6-LED 18W Work Light Bar, Spot and Flood Beam — a compact six-LED auxiliary lamp intended for motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats and off-road vehicles. The 6-LED format is the smallest of the common light-bar sizes, which makes it useful where there is no room for a full-width bar — on a crash bar, a roof-rack corner or a rear bumper.
Why it is worth fitting
Not every vehicle has room for a wide light bar across the roof, and not every driver wants one. A small auxiliary lamp solves a more specific problem: the patch of darkness a factory headlight leaves to the side of the vehicle, or behind it when reversing on an unlit track. A six-LED unit is small enough to mount on a motorcycle crash bar or a roof-rack corner, light enough to run from an existing auxiliary circuit, and useful as much for working around a vehicle at night as for driving. An aluminium housing with a finned back is the detail that matters here: LEDs lose output as they heat up, and a sealed plastic lamp that cannot shed heat will be noticeably dimmer after a few minutes than it is when you switch it on.
Key features
- Compact 6-LED format fits crash bars, roof racks and bumpers where a full-width bar will not
- 18 W rated draw, light enough to run from an existing auxiliary circuit
- Die-cast aluminium housing with a finned back to dissipate heat properly
- Sealed body intended to withstand road spray and rain
- Toughened polycarbonate lens rather than plain acrylic
- Universal bracket, so it works as a driving lamp, work lamp or reversing lamp
- Stainless fixings, which do not seize the way plated steel does
- Small enough to add a second unit on the opposite side for balanced light

Will it fit?
Universal 12 V fitment. On motorcycles, mount to the crash bar or an auxiliary bracket rather than drilling the plastics, since bodywork is difficult to repair and a lamp mounted on a flexible panel will vibrate. On cars and trucks it works as an auxiliary driving lamp, a work lamp for a load bed, or a reversing lamp. Think about position before drilling: a lamp low on the bumper gets covered in spray in wet weather, while one mounted too high may be above the beam limit set for auxiliary driving lamps.
Fitting and first use
Disconnect the battery. Fit the universal bracket to a solid mounting point and set the lamp angle before tightening. Wire through a relay rather than switching the full current through a dashboard switch — a relay protects the switch and the wiring. Earth the lamp to a clean bare metal point, not to a painted panel. Route the cable through an existing grommet with a drip loop so water cannot run along it into the housing. Aim the lamp with the vehicle on level ground: for a driving lamp, set the beam so it does not dazzle oncoming traffic, and check the aim with the vehicle loaded as it normally is. Seal any new cable entry with silicone.
Care and maintenance
Clean the lens and the fins with a damp cloth rather than a pressure washer aimed directly at the seals, which is how water gets inside. Check the mounting bolts and the earth point at each service. If the lamp dims noticeably after being on for a while, heat is the cause — check the fins are not blocked with mud. Look for water droplets inside the lens after a wash; if they appear, the seal has failed and the lamp should be resealed or replaced before the electronics corrode.
Frequently asked questions
Is it legal to use on the road?
Auxiliary driving lamps are regulated differently in each country, and many specify when they may be used and how they must be aimed. Use it only in accordance with local rules, and check the aim does not dazzle other drivers.
Spot or flood beam?
A spot pattern throws a narrow beam further, which suits a driving lamp. A flood pattern lights a wide area close up, which suits a work lamp or a reversing lamp. Choose according to the job.
Can I run it from the existing wiring?
At 18 W it draws modest current, but it should still be switched through a relay rather than added directly to an existing circuit. This protects the switch and the wiring.
Do I need one lamp or two?
One lamp leaves one side of the vehicle dark. A matched pair on opposite sides gives a much more even spread of light.
