Will it fit?
Suitable for any 12 V lead-acid battery — car, motorcycle, ride-on mower, jet ski or caravan leisure battery. It is not suitable for lithium-ion batteries. Check this carefully before buying: a lead-acid charging profile applied to a lithium battery can damage it, and many modern motorcycles and cars now use lithium batteries. Confirm the battery type on its own label, which will state whether it is lead-acid, AGM, gel or lithium.
Fitting and first use
Work in a ventilated space and keep the charger away from the battery while it charges, since lead-acid batteries give off hydrogen, which is explosive. Connect the charger’s positive lead to the battery positive first, then the negative, and only then switch on the mains supply — this order reduces the risk of a spark at the terminal. If the battery is still in the vehicle, connect the negative to a chassis earth point rather than directly to the terminal. Check the battery is not hot or swollen before charging, and if it is, do not charge it. Leave the charger to complete its cycle; the display will show when it has moved to maintenance mode.
