Will it fit?

The 130 × 60 cm size is universal and covers most passenger cars, saloons, hatchbacks and SUVs. It is placed inside the windscreen and pressed against the glass, so it does not need to match the glass shape exactly — the flexible construction follows the curve. Larger vans and motorhomes need a bigger shade, which can be supplied in a custom size.

Fitting and first use

Unfold the shade and place it inside the windscreen with the silver reflective face towards the glass — the correct side facing out is what makes it work. Tuck the edges behind the sun visors and fold the visors down to hold it in place; on most cars this is enough to keep it up without any other fixing. To pack it away, fold it back into the fan shape rather than screwing it up, which creases the reflective coating.

Care and maintenance

Wipe the reflective surface with a damp cloth rather than scrubbing it, and avoid abrasive cleaners that will scratch the coating. Store it in the supplied bag with the fold lines as they were set, because refolding it randomly each time eventually splits the reflective layer. Do not leave it folded and pressed under heavy objects, and do not use it as a ground sheet or picnic mat.

Which side goes against the glass?

The reflective silver face goes towards the windscreen. Fitted the other way round it will still block light but will not reflect the heat back out, so it works far less effectively.

Can I use it on the outside of the windscreen?

It is designed to be fitted inside, held by the sun visors. Fitting it outside leaves it exposed to wind and theft.
