Why it is worth fitting

Will it fit?
Universal sizing from 14 to 30 inches covers the great majority of passenger vehicles. The fitting that matters is the connector on your wiper arm, not the car itself: hook, pinch tab, bayonet and push-button fittings all differ, and the two blades on one car are frequently different lengths. A beam blade sits a little lower than a framed one, so check it does not foul the bonnet or the windscreen surround on unusually curved screens.
Fitting and first use
Lift the wiper arm away from the glass and hold it — do not let it snap back, because a bare metal arm will crack the windscreen. Press the release tab on the old blade and slide it off the arm. Fit the new blade by pushing the adapter onto the arm until it clicks, confirming the arm is not gripping the blade in reverse. Lay it back onto the glass gently. Refit the pair, then run the wipers once and check for missed areas at the ends of the stroke. Change both blades together: a new blade working against a worn one will not clear evenly.
Care and maintenance
Lift the blades and wipe the rubber edge with a damp cloth whenever you wash the car, because grit embedded in the rubber is what causes streaks. Clean the windscreen properly as well — a wiper smearing on a greasy screen is usually the screen’s fault, not the blade’s. In winter, do not use the wipers to clear heavy snow or ice from the screen; the ice will tear the rubber edge, and freeing a frozen blade from the glass by force is the quickest way to ruin it.
