Hrui IP68 Metal Reversing Camera, CVBS / AHD — a metal-bodied reversing camera that gives a clear view behind the vehicle when parking, with IP68 sealing and a minimum illumination rating of 1 lux so it still works in a dark car park. The metal housing survives the stone chips and pressure washing that crack plastic units.
Why it is worth fitting
A reversing camera pays for itself the first time it stops you reversing into a bollard that is below the level of the rear window. Unless it is sealed and bright enough, though, it stops being useful exactly when you need it — in rain, in a dim multi-storey car park, at night. This camera addresses both. The IP68 rating means it is sealed against water and dust ingress rather than merely water-resistant, which matters because cameras mounted on a bumper live in the worst conditions on the whole vehicle. The 1 lux minimum illumination figure puts it in the range where it can still form a usable image in genuinely low light. And the housing is metal, not the plastic that most budget cameras use and that cracks after a winter of stone chips and pressure washing.

Will it fit?
Universal 12 V fitment for cars and taxis. The camera works with any head unit or monitor that accepts a CVBS video input. If you are connecting to a factory fitted screen rather than an aftermarket head unit, you may need an interface module — confirm your head unit before ordering, because this is the single most common reason a reversing camera does not work after installation. Mounting options include a licence plate surround, a bracket behind the plate or a flush panel mount, depending on the vehicle.
Fitting and first use
Disconnect the battery before starting any electrical work. Mount the camera where it has a clear view behind the vehicle and is protected from the worst of the spray — beside the number plate is usually the best compromise. Feed the video cable through an existing grommet into the cabin rather than drilling a new hole, and route it along the existing loom. Connect the power so the camera switches on with reverse, using the reversing lamp circuit as the trigger. Make the video connection to the head unit’s camera input, then reconnect the battery and test with the ignition on before refitting any trim. Check the image is correctly oriented and adjust the guide lines.
Care and maintenance
Wipe the lens with a microfibre cloth rather than a dry tissue, which scratches the coating; a drop of water on the lens is often what makes an image look misty, not a fault. Check the seal around the cable entry annually, because that is where water gets in. Confirm the cable connection in the boot is still tight after any work in the load area. If the image becomes intermittent, the fault is almost always a poor earth or a loose connector rather than the camera itself, so check those first.
Frequently asked questions
Will it work with my factory screen?
It works with any display that accepts a CVBS input. Factory screens often need an interface module, so tell us your vehicle and head unit before ordering.
Is IP68 enough for a camera on the bumper?
IP68 is a sealed rating against water and dust ingress, and it is the appropriate grade for a camera exposed to road spray. The metal housing also survives stone chips better than plastic.
Can I use it as a front camera instead of rear?
There are rear and side position options, and fitting it to the front for a parking view is possible, but the guide lines are configured for a rear view.
Why does the picture look grainy at night?
Image quality in low light depends on the sensor and the available illumination. The 1 lux rating means it will form an image in very dim conditions, but reversing lamps and brake lights make a considerable difference to what you can see.
