Why it is worth fitting
The carpet in a footwell is one of the few parts of a car that gets wet, dries, gets wet again and is almost impossible to clean properly once salt or a coffee has soaked in. Water that runs off a flat mat collects underneath it, where it works on the floor pan and eventually causes the damp smell that never quite goes away. A 3D moulded mat is shaped to the contours of the footwell so liquid is held inside the tray, and the raised lip means a full cup of spilled drink stays put until you take the mat out and tip it away. The TPE compound is the other half of the point: it does not stiffen in winter, so it still lifts out easily when it is cold, and it can be hosed down.

Will it fit?
The pattern shown is a dedicated custom-fit set for the Tank 300 SUV built from December 2020 onwards in petrol form. Dedicated mats are cut for one specific floor pan, so please confirm your exact model, year and fuel type — or send us the vehicle details and we will quote the correct pattern. Universal-cut sets are also available for vehicles we do not have a dedicated pattern for.
Fitting and first use
Take the old mats out and vacuum the carpet first, because grit left underneath will wear the finish. Drop the new mat in and check it sits flat with no tendency to ride up. Most importantly, confirm before every drive that the driver’s mat is clear of the pedals on full travel — press the accelerator and the brake all the way down and make sure the mat does not move. If the mat has locating holes, use the original retention posts.
Care and maintenance
Lift the mats out and shake them off before washing. A garden hose is usually enough; for salt residue in winter, use warm water and a little car shampoo rather than a strong detergent, then rinse. Let them dry fully flat before refitting, otherwise moisture is trapped under the mat where you cannot see it. Avoid folding TPE mats for storage — store them flat or rolled, not creased.
Frequently asked questions
Can mats on the driver’s side be dangerous?
They can be if they are loose or wrong for the car, because a mat that slides up can obstruct the pedals. This is why the dedicated patterns are cut to the floor pan and the underside is anti-slip. Always check pedal clearance after fitting.
Will they fit a right-hand-drive car?
Dedicated patterns are cut for a specific vehicle, including its drive configuration. Tell us your model, year and which side the driver sits on, so the pattern is mirrored correctly.
How cold can TPE get before it becomes brittle?
TPE is chosen precisely because it retains flexibility at low temperatures where rigid plastic mats become stiff and crack. It will still lift out on a freezing morning.
Can I trim a rubber mat to fit?
A universal-cut set can be trimmed to size along the marked lines. A dedicated 3D-moulded set should not be cut, because trimming will breach the raised lip that holds liquid in.
